increase your metabolism
Want to ensure you are burning fat and that you always will? Want to lose fat and weight without starving yourself or going on stupid low carb diets. I mean really do you want to sit there eating cucumbers and Talapia all day? Me neither. I would prefer it if I could eat all day and have the occasional yummy treat(chocolate cake anyone?) and not worry if I gain a pound or two or worse yet completely ruin my efforts up to that point. How about not dieting AT ALL when you want to lose fat/weight?
Well I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to go on a diet! What you need to do instead of starving yourself aka going on a diet is to increase your metabolism.

WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR METABOLISM

Lifting Weights:
Lifting weights increases your metabolism by increasing muscle mass and tissues. Muscle burns serious fat and also increases resting metabolic rate. What does this mean? It burns calories while your sitting around doing diddly squat. So the end result is you can eat more and if you have a treat it won’t make any difference whatsoever. Cool eh?

Eat More:
More specifically protein. Eating more protein will speed up your metabolism so if you are just eating veges because you think that’s the ideal way to lose weight you’re wrong. You need to eat protein, the more the better. It has the highest thermic effect of food. It can increase your metabolism by 30%. No joke. So eat the chicken, turkey and eggs and if you’re vegetarian don’t forget your beans, quinoa, and tofu! Don’t blame me you’re the one who wanted to become a vegetarian! (relax, it’s just a joke vegetarians)

HIIT Workouts:
Doing high intensity interval workouts will increase your metabolism big time. I know I sound like a broken record with this HIIT stuff. But it really does work. In fact it keeps burning fat and elevating your metabolism up to 39 hours after your workout. Not too shabby!

MORE WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR METABOLISM

Drink Cold Water:
Yep drinking water will increase your metabolism by up to 30% for about an hour afterwards. More specifically though cold water forces your body to use energy to warm it to body temperature. It’s been shown that drinking a half litre of water before meals helps you lose 44% more weight! Drink your water people. Don’t forget the ice!

Get Good Sleep:
Sleep is super important and so may people downplay it’s importance. It is as necessary as food. It’s important to get at least 8 hours sleep and if you don’t you risk decreasing your metabolic rate. People who have inadequate sleep are a higher risk of obesity and certainly being overweight. Getting good sleep can increase your metabolism by about 3%. I know not much but every little bit helps! Plus it has health benefits such as increased recovery times and immune system boost.

Eat Dairy:
Gasp! I said it. Eat dairy? Yes eat dairy. This weird whacko idea that someone came up with saying dairy is bad for you and will make you gain weight is ridiculous! It’s actually the opposite. Drinking milk and eating yogourt will speed up your metabolism because the calcium in it  helps maintain muscle mass and remember when I said muscle burns fat? Yep.

So these are a few simple ways to increase your metabolism and avoid going on stupid diets. Tell me what you think. What has helped you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight? Please leave a helpful or informative comment !
