I have decided to write this blog on Starbucks and how to make those super yummy but very fattening and sugar laden drinks at Starbucks healthier and lower in calories and in fat and sugar. I decided this after I posted a fitness tip on Facebook about how you can make your Starbucks drinks lower calorie and it received some interest so I thought why not make an entire blog entry about it?

I am going to list the most popular drinks and what they have in terms of calories, fat and sugar and how you can make them healthier. Yay! I’m not going to say they taste exactly the same but pretty close. Some of them might taste less sugary and if that’s the case for you and you need more sugar, try something like Stevia to replace the sugar. It’s natural so you don’t have to worry about it having side effects and bad reactions like you might with other artificial sweeteners like Aspartame and Sucralose…

STARBUCKS DRINKS

First up is the Grande Caramel Macchiato. This has 280 calories, 11 grams of fat and 33 grams of sugar. Yeesh. Ok so to make this healthier and taste good at the same time (and remember we still want them to taste decent), you would make the drink with skim milk(no fat), sugar free vanilla syrup and no whip cream and this brings you to 140 calories, 1 gram of fat and 18 grams of sugar. Not bad eh? Yes there is still sugar but again it needs to taste decent. All in all you’re saving some pretty serious calories!

Next up is the the popular Grande White Chocolate Mocha and my personal favourite! This has 500 calories, 22 grams of fat and 59 grams of sugar! Wowsa! To make this not equal to an entire meal you would order a Grande Non Fat, No Whip, Sugar Free White Chocolate Mocha and that would bring you to 350 calories, 6 grams of fat and 15 grams of sugar. And take it from me, it tastes good!

Another popular drink and the last one in my list is Cafe Mocha. This has 400 calories,19 grams of fat and 35 grams of sugar. To make this drink healthier you would make this order a Grande non fat, no whip, sugar free Cafe Mocha and this would have calories of 250, 2.5 grams of fat and 15 gram of sugar.
Those are some of the most popular drinks at Starbucks with a healthier option. If you are trying to cut fat, this is something you can do. You can still enjoy your favourite drinks. If you find that it is not sugary enough by all means add some Stevia and that will make it taste a bit better if you are used to a lot of sugar.
Let me know if you have tried the skinnier options of these drinks and how it tasted! And if you have any other drinks that you like and want a healthier option for those just let me know and I will write or post about them.
Enjoy your Starbucks! I know I will!
